Much of the cultural characteristics of the Australian people is derived from European roots (due to British influence), and the characteristics of Aboriginal culture (were the first inhabitants of Australia).
Australia is currently considered a multicultural country, also due to the great influence of Asians and Indians in its population, and several other European peoples who migrated to the country in search of better living conditions.

Enjoy a weekend at the beach, follow a rugby match or just go to the pub for a beer are among the major Australian pastimes. Blessed with a sunny climate and surrounded by sea, all activities that involve contact with nature are common in Australia.
The national art scene is strong. It is no coincidence that the Sydney Opera House is one of the most important symbols of the country. The talented Australian opera singers such as Nellie Melba and Joan Sutherland, are famous throughout the world. The Australian Ballet and Opera Australia are the main highlights of this medium.
